On the 17th December 2006, PG 165 was the featured band for the Bless the City event at Dataran Pahlawan, Melaka. This event is a combined church effort in conjuction with Christmas.Besides us, they had a short musical play, some choir and a graduation ceremony for special children completing a course.
It was pretty significant because we've never been really playing much in front of a home church crowd despite the fact that we've played in coutless other gigs.
So raring to make an impression, we did a handful of Mercy Me's Christmas covers and also 0ur own rendition of Joy to the World(which we modified from Altered Frequency's) and a rocking version of Hark the Herald...
We had two sessions. The first session was just after 7pm...it was ok...but i think we needed some time to jump around and warm up...
Our next session was the FINALE for the night and it was beserk...in a fun sort of way...

We didn't really have a good time with the sound accoustics of the main concourse area which was very echoish and bouncy. We didn't have any monitors for ourselves either. Considering the situation, I think we played ok...hahaha...maybe a bit loud...haha
Here's some of the videos taken. Please excuse the poor sound quality since it was taken via a digi cam and not a hand held cam...and also it's position since it's taken from the side angle...
A lil spontaneous guitar lick at the end of Little Drummer Boy...
A cover on Mercy Me's "Gloria"...check out the guys dancing at the end... =)
Our own rendition of Hark the Herald...the PG 165 rocker version...
Zhen Xin's bass solo piece from Hark the Herald...
Justin's rap on one of the stanza's for Hark the Herald...
Vijay's Drum solo from Hark the Herald...engaging with the crowd...really cool...
At to cap it off by climbing on a chair, doing a guitar solo and jumping from it... One of those rare moments of sheer adrenarline combined with loud, bursting music....with the guys cheering us on...
Some of these things can't really be caught fully in pictures and videos. Just the exact atmosphere of being there...in person...jumping, grooving with us, giving us the chance to share it with you guys... is somehow different and can't be captured...yeah, it's just that momnent itself...so stay in tune for our future gigs...
PG 165 and our manager Raj...
This is for making us dance...
Our set list was:
Joy to the World (modified from AF) It Came Upon A Midnight Clear (Mercy Me) I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day (Mercy Me) Little Drummer Boy (modified from Mercy Me) Gloria (Mercy Me) Hark the Herald (our own)
 What a rocking crowd...
We thank God for all the exceedingly good and wonderful things He has done for PG 165, opening countless doors and opportunities to reach lives...God is awesome...
Thanks to all the friends and to the wonderful crowd for the support and cheers and for providing the much needed atmosphere. We shall take a break until New Year...It's goin to be a big 2007 for us...so stay in tune with the latest happenings...
Until then, have a Happy and Blessed New Year...

 ...invited...a privilege...
Just a week prior to Chiller Plant we got an invitation to attend this ceremony. We actually had no idea how grand or glitzy it was suppose to be. In fact initially we thought we were overdressed when we drove past City Harvest, KL and saw ppl in jeans n T-shirts. But one peek inside sent us back to fetch our coats.

It's actually a competition organized by Star Maker for the advancement of Chirstian music. This is their second installment. Thanks to Raj our manager, we managed to get a chance to be exposed to the industry. We saw people like Ng Wah Lok and producer Nick Lee... We were a bit late, so we couldn't go in immeadiately but had to chill outside with a line of people waiting. We spotted Altered Frequency ahead of the line. Then the usher called us and we strode ahead ahead of the line ourselves...i saw the usher with a clipboard and she was giving hushed instructions via her walkie talkie...then they pulled the curtains apart and ushered us in and I saw ourselves walking down the red carpet walkway with the camera giving live feed on the giant screen in front...oooh....wow.... and we sat behind Altered Frequency whom we had made friends with Agnel their drummer at the Chiller Plant gig.
Agnel n Daniel from Altered Frequency (well, the back of their heads)

There was about 19 songs. You can vote for each song after it is presented like how they vote in those reality tv shows. The person performing may be the composer or may be a chosen singer to sing the composer's song. It was entertainng. They had this band called Army of Three playing as the house band.
 Army of Three
After the song presentation, it was followed by a musical play that implemented all the 19 nominated songs in their play. Pretty impressive. But they played the minus one versions instead of accompanied by a live band.

PG 165 with Diana Wee, 1st runner up for the competition.
I really wanted to post up the winner of this songwriting competition but the pic isn't with us...but Diana was sweet enough to pose with us...congrats...
Shannon from Church of Praise JB, Pastor Kelvin Sim's church.
Was suppose to take with her youth but didn't have time...we ministered at her church in early 2005 as a band. It was the one where as we were abandoning ourselves, worshipping and singing the song Rain Down, the lights just went off and came on again in 3 seconds...as though the place couldn't contain God's presence that Sunday morning...She recognized us when we came in...hahaha..nice of her to remember us nobodies...
 PG 165 and Altered Frequency
 PG 165 all dressed up...hahaha..
It was a glitzy 4 hour event...6.30 - 10.30...after that was a long drive back to Melaka in the wee hours of the morning...
Oh yea, it's been a busy month. It's less than a week to our next gig in Dataran Pahlawan, Melaka for the combined Bless the City in conjuction with Christmas on the 17th December.
I think the whole thing starts at 6pm. We'll be playing somewhere around 7+ and for the finale.
See you guys there...
